21st Judicial District voters send 2 juvenile court judge candidates to runoff

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- The race for a new juvenile court judge for the 21st Judicial District Court heads to a runoff, according to complete but unofficial results on the Louisiana Secretary of State's website.
Candidates headed to runoff:
Jenny Richardson Fore (Republican):
13,328 votes
Jessica Ledet (Republican): 8,727 votes
The race heads to a runoff on May 3 after voters in Livingston, St. Helena, and Tangipahoa parishes went to the polls on Saturday, March 29. The runoff will determine the new judge for Division I, a juvenile court within the district court system currently held by Judge Mary C. Devereux.

Three Republican candidates qualified in January to run for the open position in the March election:
Rebecca Davis-Lee (Republican)
Graduated from Loyola Law School.
Member of Children's Justice Task Force.
She said her passion is juvenile justice, believing that it starts with the children to break generational cycles of crime and poverty.

Jenny Richardson Fore (Republican)
Graduated from LSU in 2010 and graduated from Southern University Law Center in 2013.
Has represented children in juvenile court for the last decade.
She said she understands what it takes to fight the rise in youth crime from a legal standpoint.

Endorsed by Gov. Jeff Landry.
Earned a law degree from Southern University Law School.
She said she would like to add programs to help youth, their parents, schools and the community.
