Maybe the real reason actor Dwayne Johnson went bald is because he is a frustrated Monsters fan and he pulled his hair out while yelling for the guys in blue jerseys to shoot the puck.

The Monsters spent too much time in the last two periods passing the puck back and forth to set up the perfect shot. As a result, they rarely got off any quality shots. They had only six shots on goal in the third period, and two of those were with a sixth attacker in the final 2:39. They had a power play with 15:30 left in the third when the score was 1-1 and didn’t get off even one shot.
“I thought it was a real immature second period,” blunt-talking Trent Vogelhuber, the Monsters third-year head coach, said. “The game plan was real good in the first. I liked a lot about it. We probably could have been up more than just one, but in the second we went off script and started trying guys one-on-one.”

Luca Del Bel Belluz gave the Monsters their 1-0 lead at 14:23 of the first period. He skated down the left side of the ice and took a pass from Mikael Pyyhtia in stride at the top of the left circle. He fired the puck under the crossbar into the top right corner of the net for his 23rd goal of the season.
The good vibes vanished after that.
“You try guys one-on-one and then you quit challenging their D by hitting their blue line with speed,” Vogelhuber said. “You try to cut across and then you’re not going to have opportunities to shoot.
“I thought everything after the first 20 minutes was not the correct mindset of how you win hockey games. It was a disappointing last 40 minutes for sure, especially for the way we’ve been playing. The last 40 minutes, the team that clinched a playoff spot (the Stars) looked more desperate than we did.”
The Monsters (31-22-5-6) are fourth in the AHL North. The top five teams in the division qualify for the playoffs. They have a four-point cushion (73-69) on sixth place Belleville in the North.
The Stars scored their third goal into an empty net. They scored their first two on scrambles in front of Greaves, the Monsters netminder who stopped 27 of 29 shots. ...read more read less
