Greece church hosts African Dinner to support new refugee families

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Greece Baptist Church hosted an African Dinner on Saturday evening to support refugee families.
Attendees were encouraged to donate $20 per plate. Money raised at the dinner goes towards housing and utilities for three newly arrived refugee families in Rochester.
"It
's very significant for us to know that even though in the chaos, there are some people who have a good heart to support others." Pastor Heritage Munyakuri of El Shaddai Church stated. "People from Africa and other nations they really need our support, so we are doing it as a village. It is a beautiful thing to see people come together."
The dinner featured a variety of African dishes. Ubugari (white corn flour), rice, potatoes, plantain, beans, isombe (cassava leaves), cabbage, beef, and chicken. Beverages included coffee, tea, water, and desserts.
