EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A reputed Barrio Azteca gang member was arrested on three criminal warrants on Friday morning, March 28 in Socorro and is now facing a new charge of possession of heroin, according to the El Paso County Constable's Office for Precinct No. 6. Angel Hernandez Jr., 46, ha d prior criminal warrants for two counts of possession of a controlled substance and evading arrest or detention with a previous conviction, all totaling up to a $300,000 bond. When Hernandez was arrested by constable deputies, an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance (heroin) was added with a $5,000 bond, according to the Constable's Office. At 9:35 a.m. on March 28, constable deputies arrived at a residence at the 100 block of Escudo Road in Socorro and arrested Hernandez, according to the Constable's Office. According to the Constable's Office, a search was conducted on Hernandez and deputies found heroin on his person. The Constable's Office also said that Hernandez is a Barrio Azteca gang member. Deputies used a field-testing kit to confirm that the substance found on Hernandez was heroin.
