EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- Happy Saturday, El Paso! We’re looking at active weather conditions starting Sunday, with a few calm days in between.
Looking at Sunday: Expect winds from 10-20 mph with gusts nearing 30 mph. The high will be near 80 with a low near 49.
Monday will be calmer, wit
h mostly sunny skies and a high in the low 80s and a low in the low 50s. While the area will still be dry, moderate winds reduce to breezes.
The break doesn’t last long, however, with winds increasing once again Tuesday and Wednesday. Blowing dust and hazy skies will be the main factors these days with highs in the low 80s to mid-70s. The lows for both days are near 50. At this moment winds barely fail to meet advisory levels but still take precautions with securing outdoor items that can fly away.
Come Thursday we see a high near 72, low around 52. Friday has the potential for scattered rain drops, but the chances are very slight. The high will be near 71 with a low near 49. Going into the weekend, we see much cooler temperatures with increasing cloud cover and highs in the low 60s and lows in the upper 40s. Sunday’s winds are on the moderate end.
Throughout this forecast period, critical fire weather conditions are present given the low humidity and gusty winds the Borderland region is experiencing. The National Weather Service advises to refrain from outdoor burning, since any fires that develop can spread rapidly under these factors. ...read more read less
