UPDATE: SATURDAY 3/29/2025 5:56 p.m.
(CAÑON CITY, Colo.) — CCPD has reported that a standoff between police and a barricaded suspect ended with no arrest after the shooting left one person hospitalized.
According to CCPD, multiple agencies responded to a barricaded domestic violence suspec
t connected with the shooting, but in the end, they verified that the suspect was not at the home.
CCPD reported that around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, officers were dispatched to the emergency room of the hospital where the victim of a shooting was being treated. Officers spoke with the victim, who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, and learned that the incident happened at a home in the 2500 block of East Main Street.

Officers set up a perimeter at the house while detectives secured a search warrant for the property to search for evidence of the incident. Because the location of the suspect was uncertain, officers maintained the perimeter and closed off the area to the public out of an abundance of caution.
After securing the warrant, SWAT teams made several attempts to communicate with the suspect inside the home and convince him to surrender, but were unsuccessful in making contact. CCPD said that SWAT teams then entered the home and found there was no one there.
Officers remained on-scene to process the house, and the investigation is still active.
