NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Slightly cooler air moved into the state last night. This will bring high temperatures down over 10° for most of New Mexico this afternoon. Windy conditions will be present across the state this afternoon, with westerly wind gusts as high as 45 mph. This will bring a high fir
e danger across most of the state. Winds will be lighter on Sunday, but still breezy. Temperatures will also continue to cool off, back closer to average for most of the state.

The wind is going to be sticking around though with more breezy conditions Monday and even windier weather next Tuesday. This will bring in warmer temperatures once again along with a high fire danger, especially on Tuesday. Tuesday afternoon is when westerly winds could gust up to 60 mph, causing areas of blowing sand and dust. Cooler air will move in with a cold front Tuesday night. Winds will also relax starting Wednesday.
