NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation said two changes to the traffic patterns on Route 146 in North Smithfield will start on April 3 at 9 p.m. RIDOT said it will shift the northbound lanes on the flyover 12 feet to the right to free up space where a south bound lane will be put in place. This will leave one lane northbound on the flyover and one lane at ground level, with the existing northbound and southbound lanes at grade remaining in place. The second shift will occur on April 11 and will provide one lane southbound on the flyover.  The final configuration of the traffic pattern will have one lane in each direction at the flyover and at ground level.
