WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) -- A man was killed late Friday afternoon after a tree he was trying to cut down, fell on top of him.
According to Deputy Assistant Chief Eric Norberg of the West Warwick Fire Department, they were called to Clyde Street around 4:15 p.m. for a man trapped under a tree.
When they arrived on scene, they did find a tree on top of a man. They were able to get the tree of off the victim, but due to the traumatic injuries, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The West Warwick Police Department was also on scene, and the State Medical Examiners Office was also notified.
The name and age of the victim is not being released at this time. No one else was injured during the incident.
The incident is still under investigation by the West Warwick Police Department and the State Medical Examiners Office.
