Coroner employee fired after video shows body dragged down stairs

UPDATE: NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office confirmed Friday, March 28 that the employee in the video has been fired following the incident.
“The New Orleans Coroner’s Office is aware of the disturbing video circulating in the media. The handling of the decedent in this
manner was completely unacceptable and does not reflect the standards of professionalism and dignity that we uphold. After a thorough review of this incident, the employee involved has been terminated. We deeply regret this situation and extend our sincere apologies to the family affected and the community," Orleans Parish Coroner's Office.

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Video captured by a Project NOLA camera shows what appears to be a coroner's office employee dragging a body bag down the stairs of what is reportedly a Bywater home following a homicide that occurred in the area on Thursday evening, March 27.

A Facebook post from Project NOLA claims "we immediately confirmed with on-scene detectives that we saw what we thought we saw." Going on to say "They too are besides themselves and are reporting the matter to the coroner."
New Orleans woman arrested, accused of setting home on fire with someone inside
The exact nature of the footage, captured by one of Project NOLA's cameras and shown below, has not yet been clarified.
The coroner's office has been contacted, but no comment on the incident has been received. More information will be added to this article as it becomes available.
