Runners participate in Boys Girls Club marathon fundraiser in Westfield

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Westfield is holding a fundraiser on Saturday that could cause traffic delays on Saturday.
The Westfield Police Department says that due to the race, some streets along the route may be closed briefly. The event kicks off at 11 a.m. a
t the Boys & Girls Club on West Silver Street. Police say the streets that will be most impacted between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. include the following:
West Silver Street
South Maple Street
Western Avenue
Court Street

A kids' fun run kicks off the event at 10:30 a.m.
The half-marathon runners will begin at 11 a.m. and will head up Western Ave toward Westfield State University. They will pivot left onto Stone Path and turn left again on NW Road. Heading south onto Granville Road, the runners will turn right onto Loomis Street, then onto Janis Road, Sacket Road, City View Blvd, Hillside Road, Patterson Street, Southgate Ave, before hitting Route 202 back to the Boys & Girls Club.
At 11:05 a.m., the 10K runners will start and head in the same direction however, when they reach Westfield State University, they will turn around and take a right on Broad Street before reaching the Boys & Girls Club.
At 11:10 a.m., the 5K runners will start and also head in the same direction and will be turned around on Granville Road.
Daycast
The weekend is looking gray and wet with showers and drizzle. Some spots could make it into the 60s on Saturday but cooler and more seasonable temperatures return Sunday with highs around 50 degrees.
A party will be held at the Boys & Girls Club following the race. Nearly $300,000 has been raised since the half marathon debuted 30 years ago.
