Indiana Grown: Farmer Brad
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Each and every Saturday, WISH-TV highlights a local company together with our partners at Indiana Grown.
This week, Bradley Wood, owner of Farmer Brad, joined Daybreak to share how he makes raising chickens easy.
Farmer Brad, found near n
ear Centerville, Indiana, specializes in raising pastured poultry and selling grass-fed lamb. The farm runs on an 8-acre homestead and has been serving the community since 2015. In addition to livestock, the company offers unique products such as chicken rental packages and automatic chicken waterers.
Chicken rental packages are available to residents in central and southern Indiana. These packages include a coop, hens, feed, and waterers for rental periods of 3 or 6 months, allowing families to experience raising chickens and collecting eggs. After 9 or 12 months, customers have the option to purchase the entire setup.
Wood’s automatic chicken waterers are available in 2 and 4-gallon options. These waterers can be connected to a garden hose for automatic refilling during warm months. They are sold on various websites and locally at Agrarian Indy in Broad Ripple.
Raising chickens in your backyard is getting easier thanks to help from Farmer Brad. Wood’s started a project to crowdsourcing chicken ordinance information across Indiana. The website assigns letter grades to cities and counties based on their chicken-friendliness.
