Morehouse School of Medicine to Unveil New Calvin Smyre Education Conference Center on April 3

As it celebrates its 50th anniversary, Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) will hold a grand opening celebration on Thursday, April 3 at 10 a.m. for the Calvin Smyre Education Conference Center (CSECC), the newest building on the MSM campus, located at 720 Westview Drive SW, Atlanta, GA 30310.
The st
ate-of-the-art facility is named for the Honorable Calvin Smyre, former Dean of the Georgia House of Representatives and MSM Trustee Emeritus, who played a pivotal role in the establishment of Morehouse School of Medicine by helping the institution secure crucial funding from the State of Georgia. In the decades since, Dean Smyre has been a staunch supporter of MSM and its mission.
Morehouse School of Medicine President and CEO Valerie Montgomery Rice, MD, FACOG, Board of Trustees Chairman Mr. Art Collins and Dean Smyre will offer remarks at the ribbon cutting, which will be followed by a tour of the building.
The CSECC features a range of indoor and outdoor spaces including a cutting-edge auditorium, conference and event rooms, group study areas, offices and a sophisticated pre-function area that can transition effortlessly into a fine dining space, lecture hall, or networking hub. The conference center is equipped with embedded sound systems and high-definition monitors throughout the building for a seamless audiovisual experience.
