Stafford County Sheriff's Office seizes drugs, guns, animals

MACKSVILLE, Kan. (KSNW) — A law enforcement operation led by the Stafford County Sheriff's Office in Macksville resulted in two arrests and the seizure of various illegal items and animals on Thursday morning.
According to a social post from the Sheriff’s office, it happened about 10 a.m. whe
n officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 100 block of North Spickard Avenue.

During the search, authorities recovered firearms, ammunition, explosives, crossbows, methamphetamine, fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, and various electronic devices. Also found inside the residence were 17 dogs, three pigs, two pythons, and a salamander.
A 47-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were taken into custody at the scene.
Both suspects were transported to Barton County Jail and face multiple felony charges. One individual faces eight charges, including possession of methamphetamine, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of explosives, child endangerment, animal abuse, identity theft, and distribution of stimulants within 1,000 feet of a school. Their bond has been set at $200,000.
The second individual faces six charges, including possession of methamphetamine, child endangerment, animal abuse, identity theft, and drug distribution near a school. Their bond is set at $150,000.
KSN does not name suspects until they have been formally charged in court.
The operation included assistance from the Macksville Police Department, St. John Police Department, Stafford Police Department, Stafford K9 Unit, Kansas Highway Patrol and its K9 Unit, Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks, and the Stafford County Communications Tactical Unit.
