'Smells like crime': Fairfax County police arrest group that targeted Ulta stores in Virginia, Maryland

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- Police in Fairfax County arrested three people accused of targeting Ulta stores in Virginia and Maryland to steal high-end fragrances.
The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said that the arrests followed months of investigation. The suspects are allegedl
y tied to an organized retail theft operation.
Police said that starting in the summer of 2024, this group would go into businesses, steal expensive perfumes and leave before police arrived. They also used several stolen vehicles during the thefts, according to FCPD.
In total, they reportedly stole over $190,000 in items.
Man accused of stealing from car arrested in Montgomery County
The thefts took place in Fairfax County, Anner Arundel County, the City of Fairfax, Prince William County and Montgomery County.
21-year-old Damari Cousar of Washington, D.C. is facing the following charges:
Armed robbery in Montgomery County
Grand larceny in Prince William County
Grand larceny with intent to sell in Fairfax County
Conspiracy to commit larceny in Fairfax County
28-year-old Rasaan, also of Washington, D.C., is facing the following charges:
Felony destruction in Montgomery County
Grand larceny in Montgomery County
Conspiracy to commit larceny in Montgomery County
Several outstanding failure to appear warrants
A 17-year-old teenage boy was also identified as a suspect in the thefts. He is facing charges of rogue and vagabond, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and unlawful removal of a motor vehicle in Anne Arundel County.

Dec. 10, 2024 -- 5800 block of Leesburg Pike, Bailey's Crossroads, Va.$7,024 stolen
Dec. 12, 2024 -- 5800 block of Leesburg Pike, Bailey's Crossroads, Va.$5,542 stolen
Dec. 20, 2024 -- 6500 block of Frontier Dr., Springfield, Va.$3,464 stolen
Dec. 27, 2024 -- 2500 block of Solomons Island Rd., Annapolis, Md.$7,979.74 stolen
