CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A community garden in Chesterfield County will reopen in April with new renovations for residents to plant fruits and vegetables. At 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, the Chesterfield Parks and Recreation Department will officially reopen the Rockwood Park Community Ga rdens after renovations over the winter. According to officials, the Rockwood Park Community Gardens will be ready for residents looking for a small plot to grow flowers, fruits and vegetables. Two gardens on about an acre are divided into over 80 raised plots that are available in three sizes. The county said plots can be rented on a yearly basis to grow plants for personal consumption. Originally established nearly 30 years ago, Rockwood Park Community Gardens' newly renovated space will include new bed construction, fully enclosed fencing and water sources.
