PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — State Rep. Enrique Sanchez pled guilty Friday to refusing to submit to a breathalyzer test in connection with a DUI arrest in February.
According to court records the judge sentenced Sanchez to an alcohol treatment course, 10 hours of community service, and having an ign
ition interlock system installed in his vehicle for six months.
His DUI charge will still be heard in Bristol County Superior Court.
Sanchez was pulled over in the area of Reservoir Avenue in Cranston in February.
The officer that pulled him over said he appeared “confused” and that they “smelled a heavy odor of alcoholic beverage” on his breath.
Sanchez also allegedly asked if he could call an Uber if he did not consent to field sobriety tests, which he declined after they told him he could not.
He was then arrested for suspicion of DUI.
