2 men charged in shotsfired incident, police chase

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Two men arrested in connection with a shots-fired incident in the capital city faced a judge Friday morning.
Anthony Reed, 28, and Orlando Torres, 19, were taken into custody Thursday evening after a brief police chase through Providence that ended in a crash.

e said officers near the intersection of Shiloh and Hyacinth streets heard gunfire and then saw a car speed off.
Officers chased the vehicle briefly until the driver, later identified as Reed, crashed at the corner of Admiral Street and Douglas Avenue.
Both Read and Torres hopped out of the vehicle and took off running. The men were quickly apprehended and a firearm was recovered, according to police.
No one was hit by gunfire and the incident remains under investigation at this time.
Reed has been charged with possession of a firearm without a license, eluding law enforcement in a high-speed pursuit and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in damage. He was granted $5,000 surety bail, but was also presented as a probation violator, according to court records.
Torres was charged with carrying a pistol without a license and resisting arrest. Court records indicate he was ordered held as a bail violator.
