Child's remains found after North Carolina house fire, SBI says

ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WBTW) -- Child remains were found inside of a Maxton home and at least one other person was injured after a fire, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation said Friday.
Queheel Fire Department crews responded at 7:24 p.m. Thursday to a fire in the 100 block of Marada
Road, the SBI said. Crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the home when they arrived.
After the fire was extinguished, a child's remains were found inside the residence, according to the SBI. The remains were sent to the North Carolina Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
At the time of the fire, three other people were inside the home -- with at least one of them receiving treatment for injuries -- but their condition was not immediately available. The SBI is investigating the fire, and the cause of it has not been determined.
