WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — Winston-Salem police identified the passenger of an ambulance who died on the scene of a crash earlier this month. Around 10 a.m. on March 11, a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee crossed the center median and hit an ambulance traveling south on Silas Creek Parkway, accordi ng to the Winston-Salem Police Department. Winston-Salem police said the driver was the only person in the Jeep. Three people were in the ambulance. One of the passengers in the ambulance was a patient, later identified as Omer Nicholas Pope, Jr., 92, who died at the scene. Officials are still investigating the crash.
