WASHINGTON (DC News Now)-- President Donald Trump has commissioned a new task force to clean up crime in D.C. through an executive order signed Thursday night. The "DC Safe and Beautiful Task Force" essentially provides a way for the president to have federal oversight of D.C.’s Metro police d epartment.Trump has repeatedly ridiculed the District for having high crime and what he calls failed policies. The executive order also calls for beautifying the nation's capital by restoring federal buildings, parks, and roadways. It also calls for clearing homeless encampments in D.C., but made no mention of any alternative for those who are unhoused. It’s Official!
