FORECAST: A few showers today, reaching the 80s on Saturday
Mar 28, 2025
After a few chilly days, the warmup is on as we head into the weekend! A warm front is passing nearby, pulling in warmer air from the south. Temperatures are already soaring through the 60s, and most of us will enjoy the lower 70s this afternoon. These warmer temperatures are happening despite plent
y of cloud cover, also brought in by the warm front. Even though it's cloudy, rain showers are tough to find. Some rain is trying to spill east from Ohio and WV, but most of it is fizzling out as it runs into a lot of dry air. As we get later in the afternoon, this dry air should get chipped back enough that isolated showers will fall in parts of the region. Any rain showers that are out there will wrap up heading into the night, with lows only falling back into the 50s.
A very warm night will lead into our warmest day of 2025 thus far. With the warm front to our north, southerly winds will continue pumping in warmer air, pushing temperatures into the 80s on Saturday. This will happen again despite a mostly cloudy sky, though rain isn't on the table this time. A better chance of showers comes on Sunday, as another surge of moisture arrives by the afternoon, producing isolated showers and perhaps a few rumbles of thunder. The center of the storm system producing all this warm air will approach and pass northwest of us on Monday. A strong cold front will sweep across the area as this happens, producing more widespread rain and some thunderstorms.
Any rain we can get will be welcome, but we don't need severe weather. Unfortunately, a few severe thunderstorms are still possible Monday afternoon and evening. The setup doesn't look that concerning, but we still can't rule out the chance of severe weather yet. We'll continue to watch this closely and update you on how things change over the next few days for this threat. It will finally cool back down behind the cold front, with highs in the 50s on Tuesday and mostly sunny skies. Another system will arrive during the second half of the week, bringing clouds and a few spotty showers back starting on Wednesday. Rain chances will be higher next Thursday and Friday as a warm front and a cold front move through, with warmer temperatures also on tap.
Have a great weekend!
