Home invasion shootout leaves 2 suspects injured in Los Banos

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Two suspects were shot by a homeowner after an exchange of gunfire during a home invasion early Friday morning in Los Banos, according to the Los Banos Police Department.
Police say that around 2 a.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 2000 block
of Edward Street.

Officials say that several armed suspects forcefully entered a home, confronting the homeowner. The homeowner, responding to the disturbance, decided to investigate and faced the armed intruders inside the home.
According to investigators, the victim was able to retrieve a legally owned firearm and confront the suspects.
During the confrontation, police say gunfire was exchanged while the suspects were inside the home. The suspects fired multiple rounds toward the homeowner, who returned fire, striking two of the suspects.
Police said the suspects fled the scene through a bedroom window, and the uninjured suspects left the area in an unknown vehicle.
Shortly after, police say two injured suspects were located, arrested, and transported to a Modesto-area hospital for treatment of gunshot-related injuries.
