SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A report of a family dispute at a Sioux Falls apartment building led to a rape investigation spanning two states and several years.
Kyle Huff, 43, is being held on a $200,000 cash bond. Court documents say he sexually assaulted a relative for nearly five years. He is
charged with three counts of rape in the second, third and fourth degree. Kyle Huff's wife Amanda is charged with one count of aggravated assault for strangulation of the same victim.

According to an affidavit, the victim called 911 on March 24, claiming Huff was “going crazy.” Once officers arrived, the victim told them Huff sexually assaulted her. This lead to a rape investigation.
Huff allegedly began sexually assaulting the victim at age 17 around the time she had a baby. The victim claims Huff is not the father of the child, according to court documents. However, she disclosed that Huff changed his name from Jeffery Allen Huff to Kyle Oliver Lee Huff to better match her child’s name.
Huff is listed as the father on the child’s birth certificate and the child calls him "dad", court documents say.
When officers initially interviewed Amanda, she claimed she knew nothing of the assaults, but did know Huff slept in the same bed as the victim. During a later interview, she disclosed that she had witnessed the defendant sexually assault the victim in Kentucky.
On March 26, officers attempted to contact the victim by landline, but Amanda was the only one to pick up. After a second attempt to call their home, Amanda said the victim was “sent out of state.”
However, when officers arrived at the Sioux Falls apartment, the victim was present and consented to being questioned. The only clothes she had on were a pajama nightgown, with no underwear, shoes or socks. She told police she had no other clothing or shoes.
During the officer's interview with the victim, she said the family moved to South Dakota in 2021 from Owensboro, Kentucky, where the abuse allegedly started.
Huff was originally in police custody pending a search warrant when he said he was having chest pains. He was transported to Sanford Health. He was released, but didn't return home. Police later found him and made an arrest. ...read more read less
