LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) —
Derrick Minniefield Jr., service manager at Double Dogs, says they are fully prepared for the game-day rush.
“We have 26 TVs, 12 big screen TVs, that turns into one big whole screen, we well have it on there have the sound on, It’s a real UK environment in
here,” said Minniefield.
Double Dogs is just one of many restaurants bracing for a large crowd of fans before tipoff. Minniefield says his staff is ready for the madness.
“If they win today, we know Friday, Saturday and Sunday are going to be one of our busier days of this week. So we just try to tell them [Double Dogs staff] hey be prepared we know it’s going to be tiring, we know it’s going to be busy, so just come prepared get some sleep be ready,” said Minniefield.
There are many ways to watch the game Friday, the Kentucky Theatre on Main Street is hosting a free watch party. Organizers say doors open at 6:30 p.m., with tipoff set for 7:39 p.m.
No matter where fans plan to watch, Minniefield recommends arriving well before the game.
“Yeah about 5:30, 6 o’clock” .. “from 5 o’clock to close it’s going to be nonstop for whoever comes in yeah,” said Minniefield.
Meanwhile, Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton has officially declared this weekend “Blue White Weekend,” encouraging everyone to wear blue and white in support of the Wildcats.
