Loose soil, high winds Thursday reduce visibility in the Ray, Tioga areas

TIOGA, ND (KXNET) — The ongoing drought conditions, coupled with high winds, have been creating a "dirt fog" in places around the flat, open country near Ray and Tioga.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, gusty winds Thursday stirred up enough loose soil in the air to drop visibility
to near zero in some areas for the second time this week.
One officer managed to snap a photo of the dirt fog on U.S. Highway 2, between mile markers 50 and 60.

Meanwhile, real fog settled in Friday morning in the Columbus area as light wintry weather moved into the northwest portions of the state. Here's the view from Highway 40 south of Columbus around 9:30 a.m.:
