Duffy, the singer best known for the 2008 hit “Mercy,” made her first public-facing appearance this week since she claimed more than five years ago that she’d been kidnapped, raped and “held captive” for days. In February 2020, Duffy spoke out in a since-deleted Instagram post, in which she addressed her hiatus from the public eye and having not released new music since five years prior. The “Rockferry” crooner said that, while “safe now,” she had been “raped and drugged and held captive over some days.” “Of course I survived,” Duffy continued. “The recovery took time.” She did not provide any details on the person behind her alleged kidnapping and assault.
