CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- In honor of Women's History Month, rangers at Pocahontas State Park will host an event on Saturday where attendees will hike while learning how women impacted the park. "Women of the Park" will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, with the group me eting at the Swift Creek Boat Launch within the park, located at 10301 State Park Road. Attendees will hike along Forest Exploration and Co-op Trails while learning about women who lived in the park and contributed to its status as a place for families, cyclists, hikers, trail runners and campers to enjoy. Organizers said the hike will span across about 2 miles with mixed terrain, from hard-packed earth with roots to wide gravel paths. Visitors are recommended to wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. Reservations are required.
