ELLENBORO, N.C. (WSPA) — The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office reported that they are investigating an incident involving a shooter in Rutherford County. Officers were called to Hollis Road in Ellenboro regarding a shooter in the area targeting cars. Upon arrival, deputies commanded for the su spect to drop their weapon. The suspect refused to comply and allegedly shot at the officers. Deputies returned fire and hit the suspect. The suspect was transported to a local trauma center for treatment. Deputies say that the scene is contained and that no officers were harmed.
