Urban League of Springfield celebrates 112 years of service to the community

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Celebrating 112 years of service to the greater Springfield area, the Urban League of Springfield held its annual celebration Thursday night.
Those involved believe this gathering continues to shine a light on people who pursue their mission of empowerment and equity.
Awards were also given out to a select few who continue to impact those around them.
Yvette Frisby, president and CEO told 22News, "We also have our foster grandparent program which is our seniors that are 55 and older that are mentors to young children, and our project ready which is an after-school program for middle and high school."
This year's event theme was Rise Up. Organizers say it's a testament to their mission and programs.
