UPDATE: Another source close to the situation claims that Henderson has not officially been offered the Drake job, however, it seems that Drake sees Henderson as one of their top candidates to replace former HC Ben McCollum. More updates to come.

Sources close to Eric Henderson have rep
orted that he has been offered the role as the next head coach for the Drake Bulldogs following their second round exit from the NCAA Tournament to Texas Tech. While not confirmed, the move would be a major step up in the college basketball world. SDSU finished the 2025 season 20-12 (11-6 in conference play).
Eric Henderson was promoted to head coach of Jackrabbit men’s basketball March 27, 2019 and finished his sixth season at the helm of the program in 2024-25. He previously spent three years as an assistant at South Dakota State, rising to associate head coach for the 2018-19 campaign.
Drake’s former head coach, Ben McCollum, was hired away from Drake to take over the Iowa program, vacating the HC role at Drake for what is believed could be Henderson.
