Fort Wayne UNITED TenPoint Coalition makes their return with first walk back
Mar 27, 2025
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — After being put on pause in 2024 and transformed into a 501(c)(3) entity, the Fort Wayne UNITED Ten-Point Coalition is back walking in Fort Wayne neighborhoods.
The initiative aims to influence the lives of people and neighborhoods by implementing strategies to reduce
violence and emphasize the importance of education, employment, and community partnerships.
They do so with their foot patrol members visiting local neighborhoods to look at areas like crime and housing to see where improvements could be made.
"To know that they're out in the neighborhood makes people feel safer in areas that have seen high levels of crime and violence," Reverend Charles Harrison, Board President of the Indianapolis 10-point Coalition, said. "You can see that in the fact they came out and people came up to them, they starting engaging with people."
In 2024, the initiative was put on hold until it was then repurposed as a 501(c)(3) entity due to the city's new administration under Mayor Tucker reviewing their efforts.

Since then, the initiative has been working to get back on its feet.
"I was kinda praying, God whatever your will, and I waited," Afrika Allison, Team Lead for 10-point coalition, said. "I had to be patient, it wasn't easy because this became part of our livelihood. It wasn't about a paycheck, it wasn't about a dollar, it was about something we actually felt was our purpose, and something we believed in."
Although it does look a little different for members, they are still looking to make a lasting impact on the Fort Wayne community.
"This warms my heart because we're about giving back, George Hicks, Executive Director of Fort Wayne UNITED said. "We don't want to be part of the problem, we want to be part of the solution."
