Richland Co., SC (WOLO) — The Richland County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a man they say committed several crimes over a 48 hour period. Deputies say they were called to the 100 block of Pleasant Drive for reports of a shooting just before 11 a.m. Wednesday.
When authorities a
rrived they say they discovered a person suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body. While the person was taken to the hospital for treatment, authorities began their investigation.
Deputies say 34 -year-old Steven Mosley broke into a home along Pleasant Drive where they say he stole a rifle and a golf cart. Officials say he drove that golf cart down the street to another home where he is accused of trading it in for a side by side ATV. While still riding on the ATV, deputies say Mosley robbed a man of his cellphone and shot him before authorities say he took off.
Officials say when they were able to locate Mosley, he still had the stolen rifle and cell phone in his possession. Deputies say they tried to stop Mosley who they say led them on a brief chase before crashing the ATV and trying to run from arresting deputies. Officials say once Mosley was detained he tried to take a deputies gun.
Authorities say Mosley has also been connected to an armed robbery that took place along the 10 -thousand block of Garners Ferry Road where deputies say Mosley is accused of assaulting and robbing a construction worker of his cell phone the day before. RCSD says charges related to this incident are still forthcoming.
Mosely is charged with Burglary 1st, Burglary 3rd, two counts of Grand Larceny, Petit Larceny, Failure to Stop for Blue Lights and Siren, Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature, Armed Robbery, Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon, and Attempting to Take a Law Enforcement Weapon. He was transported to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
