ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque realtor took a break from city life to find love on a California farm as part of FOX's reality TV show, "Farmer Wants a Wife."
Halleh Day, 29, starred in season three and accompanied seven other women to meet Matt Warren. The 30-year-old farmer works o
n his family’s 132-acre avocado and exotic fruit farm in Morro Bay and on a 70-acre farm in Visalia.
"Dating on camera is a little bit weird, to say the least. You're trying to, like, say as much and be as authentic as possible, as quick as possible. But I love different. I love things that are kind of out of the box," Day said.
During the show, the women got their hands dirty working on the farm and put their love skills to the test to make an impression on Warren.

"We were both nervous. He's more shy when he's nervous. I'm more giggly and loud when I'm nervous. So that helped. I think, like, I helped him out on our speed date because I couldn't stop talking. And he was like, 'This is great. Like, keep it going,'" Day recalled.
Starring in "Farmer Wants a Wife" was an experience full of firsts and, in some ways, a calling for the Duke City native. "I felt like from a younger age that being on reality TV or kind of doing something out of the box is in my nature a bit. So it just came to be," Day said, explaining that a recruiter from the show noticed her on Instagram and thought she could be a good fit.
"They gave me some information. I was like, 'This might actually be perfect for me,'" Day said. From there, things shifted quickly for Day. She completed multiple interviews and evaluations in three weeks. Then she finally got the news: She made it on the show and had 48 hours to pack her bags.
"So I pretty much went shopping for one whole day. And then the next day, I was just like throwing clothes around and packing bags. It was crazy quick," Day explained.
With two "giant" suitcases packed, Day was off to California. The next thing she knew, she and the other women contestants were on Warren's farm surrounded by lights, cameras, and microphones, connecting with the show's host, Kimberly Williams-Paisley.
"It was just a blast getting to know girls from all over the country. Like these crazy city girls that have like never seen a farm in their life. And these farmers that just came from their farm to be on the show. It was such an eclectic group," said Day.
When it came to her experience with farming, Day said she spent time during her childhood on her family's ranch in northern New Mexico, where they would ride ATVs, go fishing, and go hunting. Her experience was vastly different from working at Matt's farm in the Golden State. "Ranching here is more cattle and horses and hay, like all those sorts of things. Where in California, it's lush and green. And I've never even seen a finger lime before; I was like, 'What the heck is this?' But it was so fun," recalled Day.
Three other groups of women are also competing to be the love match of hay and cattle farmer Jay Woods in Alabama; soy, corn, and wheat farmer John Sansone in Missouri; and cattle rancher and horse trainer Colton Hendrick in Arkansas.
