RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Police Department will host a "State of the Teen Union" on Monday, which aims to amplify Richmond youth voices and tackle education, youth violence and mental health issues.
The free one-day event, curated by the police's Community Youth Intervention Services (C
YIS), will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, March 31, at the Virginia Union University Living and Learning Center on 1500 N. Lombardy Street.
“This event is about more than conversation—it’s about action. We’re creating a platform where teens can speak their truth, engage with leaders who are ready to listen and walk away with the tools they need to thrive,” said Dargenaba Anderson, the CYIS Coordinator.
According to an announcement from police on Monday, March 27, the event will give teenagers a way to connect with leaders in the Richmond community, engage in interactive breakout sessions and gain support resources. It also features live musical performances from MPO F. El-Amin and DJ Phalie, food by Frozay RVA and a special presentation from the DEA’s “One Pill Can Kill” initiative.
