Unsettled pattern underway; drought conditions for some in central Indiana
Mar 27, 2025
Thursday marks day #8 with a high temperature lower than 60°. A warm front is on the way and will move through here overnight. That will bring temperatures surging and winds picking up on Friday with more showers here.
It's the driest March to date in 11 years with several counties nor
th and northwest of Indianapolis in a Moderate Drought ahead of the Spring Planting season. Luckily, those numbers will improve before March ends with several rounds of rain on the way.

A few showers will be around for the evening. However, the advancing warm front will break our cooler pattern and bring the peak coverage of rain overnight and early Friday morning. Downpours and some thunderstorms are possible peaking around daybreak. Everything should remain below severe limits. This warm front will then produce a windy and warm Friday with highs in the mid-70s and gusty SW winds gusting to 40-45 MPH at times.
Once we get through Friday, we'll have another unsettled weekend across Central Indiana for March's final days. Widely scattered showers Saturday with dry hours promised especially midday. Forecast highs will be in the upper 60s. Then a powerful cold front will come sweeping through the region late Sunday. In its wake, showers and storms with a severe potential will be around Sunday afternoon and evening.
Once the front comes through, temperatures will crash on Monday. It could be the coolest March 31st in five years. April will start on an active note with a system for Wednesday and Thursday. The good news? The Indianapolis Indians home opener on Tuesday looks dry but a touch on the cool side. FOX59 will be live there Tuesday evening!
