HICKORY, N.C. – A 20-year-old man was ejected from his vehicle and killed in a crash overnight in Catawba County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
It happened around 1:50 a.m. Thursday on NC 127 near NC 10, approximately nine miles south of Hickory.
Troopers said a 2001 Toyot
a Camry was traveling north on NC 127 when it went off the right side of the road, overturned and struck a guardrail.
The driver, Eli Brittain, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Troopers said Brittain was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Excessive speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
