WILLISTON, ND (KXNET) — A Williston woman is facing two felony charges after fighting officers during a traffic stop.
According to the Williston Police Department, at about 6:36 p.m. on March 18, officers received a call about a reckless driver on the 400 block of 14th Ave west. The car was rep
orted to be traveling on the rim.
Officers found the GMC parked with the rear passenger tire over the curb and saw that the tire was off the rim. They also saw damage to various parts of the car.
When officers approached the car, they saw the woman allegedly shouting at a child in a car seat in the back. Officers say the woman appeared to have bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech.

The woman was asked to exit the vehicle and was uncooperative, allegedly yelling at the officers and using vulgarities. Officers were eventually able to arrest her for DUI and Refusal after she resisted.
The woman allegedly said the child wasn't hers, but when asked, the child told officers she was his mother and they were involved in a car crash. The child was removed and given assistance.
While in the back of the patrol vehicle, the woman continued to slip her hands from the handcuffs, and struck the window/cage.
When she exited the car, she allegedly screamed in the officer's face and kicked his leg. She was eventually secured into a hobble and taken to the Williams County Correctional Center.
She is being charged with Preventing Arrest and Simple Assault - Peace Officer or Correctional Officer, both of which are Class C felonies.
