6 suspects, including 4 juveniles, arrested for Bay Area armed carjackings

(KRON) -- Two men and four juveniles allegedly connected to a Bay Area crime spree involving armed carjackings, burglaries and sideshows were taken into custody, the San Jose Police Department announced Thursday.
The police investigation began after a Nov. 19, 2024, carjacking outside of a residenc
e in San Jose. A resident awoke early that morning to find three suspects breaking into his vehicle, SJPD said. When the victim confronted the group, one of the suspects pointed a gun at him. The trio fled the area in the victim’s vehicle.

The same suspects were found to be “involved in a crime spree spanning over a few months,” police said. Authorities accused the group of multiple armed carjackings, armed robberies, vehicle thefts, vehicle burglaries, and sideshow activity. Arrest warrants were obtained for six suspects.
Darren Nguyen, 19, of Oakland, was arrested in Morgan Hill on Dec. 5, 2024. Two months later, police arrested Alexander Carrillo, 19, of Tracy, in San Jose on Feb. 5.

One juvenile suspect was arrested on Feb. 25 in Hayward, and two others were arrested on March 18 in Hayward and Oakland. The fourth juvenile was found to already be in custody at Alameda County Juvenile Hall for an unrelated crime and was arrested, police said.
Three of the arrested juveniles are 17 years old, and one is 16 years old, according to authorities.
One firearm was recovered during search warrants that were executed in the case, according to SJPD. Vehicles that the group allegedly stole were recovered in San Francisco, Oakland and Hayward. ...read more read less
