Creighton Adds Transfer, Loses Two Players While Omaha Loses Two Key Leaders To NCAA Portal

Courtesy of AlphaMedia USA Lincoln.LINCOLN–(KFOR Mar. 27)–The NCAA Transfer portal got active on Wednesday, where the Creighton men’s basketball team picked up Owen Freeman — a 6-foot-10 sophomore, who co-led the Iowa Hawkeyes in scoring average this season — has committed to play the Blue
jays next season.
Freeman averaged 16.7 points and grabbed 6.7 rebounds per game while shooting 63 percent from the floor. Creighton also lost guard Pop Isaacs, who was sidelined with a season-ending hip injury after eight games, and forward Mason Miller, where both entered the NCAA portal.
The Omaha Mavericks men’s basketball program will lose two key players form their NCAA Tournament team. Marquel Sutton and JJ White — the team’s two leading scorers who both earned First Team All-Summit League honors — both confirmed via social media that they have entered the transfer portal.
In his announcement Wednesday, Sutton said he’s also entered his name into the 2025 NBA Draft while also being granted an extra year of college eligibility. Meanwhile, CBS Sports is reporting that head coach Chris Crutchfield has signed an extension to remain with Omaha through the 2029-2030 season.
