Village of Barker says man has been going doortodoor posing as National Grid employee

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A man claiming to be a National Grid employee has been going door-to-door to access personal information, according to a social media post by the Village of Barker.
The man has allegedly been attempting to obtain National Grid account numbers to enroll residents in a commu
nity solar credit on their bill. An investigation found that the man is actually a Neighborhood Solar employee, the post said.
The village described the man as "bold," saying he has even entered a home without permission.
National Grid said they do not go door-to-door. Real employees will have a badge with their picture, name and "National Grid" written across the top, according to the post. The badge will also have either a blue, red or green border around it.
If you see the man or any suspicious activity, you are asked to contact the Niagara County Sheriff's Office at (716) 438-3393.
You can call 1-800-Niagara for questions about your account or to freeze it if you are a victim of the scam.
