$4.47M allocated for more affordable housing in Travis County

AUSTIN (KXAN) — On Tuesday, the Travis County Commissioners Court approved a $4.47 million contract to help fund more affordable supportive housing.
According to the county, the contract was with Family Eldercare for the nonprofit’s Cairn Point Montopolis housing development.
The project i
s expected to provide 150 new units of affordable housing to those 55 years or older who are unhoused or at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
“Residents at the Cairn Point Montopolis will have access to on-site services and referrals to meet basic needs such as food, physical and mental healthcare, clothing, and legal services,” the county said.
The $4,474,947 investment is from the $110 million the commissioners court previously allocated to addressing homelessness.
“The $110 million is expected to help build over 1,700 new, deeply affordable supportive housing units,” the county said. ...read more read less
