Lyric Opera of Chicago has received a $25 million donation from longtime supporter and board member Penelope Steiner. The Lyric said the unrestricted gift was one of the largest such individual contributions in the opera company’s history, and comes during the first season led by new general direc tor, president and CEO John Mangum.
