'Rust' trailer released more than three years after fatal onset shooting

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Three and a half years after a tragic shooting on a New Mexico movie set, the trailer for the film "Rust" has now been released. The film, starring Alec Baldwin, tells the story of an orphan who accidentally kills a rancher and is sentenced to death by hanging.
Production
for "Rust" began in Santa Fe, but was halted in October 2021 after Baldwin discharged a prop gun loaded with real bullets and killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Baldwin was charged with involuntary manslaughter, but the judge dismissed the case over the prosecution's failure to disclose evidence.
Armorer Hannah Gutierrez is serving an 18-month sentence for Hutchins' death after it was determined that a live bullet had made their way on set and was loaded into Baldwin's prop gun. In court they also detemined Gutierrez was ultimately responsible for the weapons and ammo that killed Hutchins.
"Rust" first premiered in Poland in November 2024. According to Falling Forward Films website, the films release date is May 2, 2025.
