Funeral held for beloved Rochester corner store owner shot dead Sunday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Dozens of people gathered inside Al-Rahman Mosque in Rochester Wednesday for the funeral service of Ali Saleh, the 30-year-old husband and father who was shot and killed Sunday while working behind the counter of his corner store on Clifford Ave.

Saleh’s family, friends, and customers are remembering him as a consistently kind person who always helped anyone in need.

Police say 42-year-old Tony Brown walked into the store Sunday evening and shot Saleh 4 times, perhaps in retaliation for a fight inside the store a few days prior – a fight Saleh’s friends say Saleh had nothing to do with.
Brown pleaded not guilty Tuesday to murder in the second degree and is now being held in jail without bail.
Saleh leaves behind a wife and a 3-year-old girl.
