ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Diabetes Alert "Wake Up Call" Clinic was hosted at Rochester City Hall, Wednesday.
According to the Anthony L. Jordan Corporation, nearly 82% of adults diagnosed with the disease in the Greater Rochester area live in the inner city.

The clinic's goal, according to officials, was to approach the severity of the condition, advocate for diabetes prevention, and provide direct support to those living with diabetes in the Rochester area.
"Diabetes is not a death sentence and it is preventable," Dr. Linda Clark, CEO and President of Jordan Health, said. "You can't hear something once and understand. You have to talk about it over and over. Then, given people solid tools to deal with it, you don't want to just say, 'Here's this depressing news.' You want to say, this is what you can do to prevent this in your life, this is what you can do to manage it if you have it. This is the information you can share with your children, your abuela, whoever, to make sure that we're all informed."

The event was a partnership between the medical provider, Rochester City Hall, Rochester City Council, and City Councilman Michael Peterson. ...read more read less
