BOULDER, Colo. Boulder police officers located a driver hours after they allegedly struck a cyclist and took off without stopping. The Boulder Police Department said officers were called out for a report of a crash involving a
cyclist and pickup truck at the intersection of 63rd Street and Spine Road just before 11 a.m. Wednesday. According to the department, a man was cycling eastbound on Spine. As he was approaching 63rd, a Ford F-150 pickup truck that was heading northbound on 63rd struck the cyclist in the intersection. The cyclist had the green light, according to Boulder police. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Thanks to information provided by witnesses, officers were able to identify the driver as Dustin Kelsey, 46, of Parker. Boulder police said Kelsey was booked into jail for leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury, careless driving causing injury, careless driving causing serious bodily injury to a vulnerable road user and running a red light. The first charge is a felony while the remaining three are misdemeanors. The investigation is ongoing.
