Counterprotest to take place during Black Mass in Topeka
Mar 26, 2025
TOPEKA (KSNT) - On Friday, March 28, at 11 a.m., a group of Kansas Satanists will be holding a black mass at the Kansas State Capitol.
It will also be met with a counter-protest by a Christian and Catholic advocacy group. Our Kansas Capitol Bureau spoke with Tradition Family and Property of Ameri
ca (TFP) member Tim Huelskamp about the counter protest.
"We want to have a response," Tim Huelskamp said.
They're hosting the counter-protest on the south steps of the capitol. The black mass will be on the east side. TFP is hoping for hundreds if not thousands across the state to come out and support.
"Christians have a right and a responsibility to stand up for our faith," Huelskamp said. "We have the opportunity to talk about Jesus and pray with him. As I mentioned, we will have a prayer rally not only on the south capitol steps, but this will be happening all across the state."
Catholics and Christian groups across the state are responding to the satanic ritual. On Wednesday, March 26, the Archbishop of Kansas City reconsecrated Kansas to Jesus in a special ceremony of their own.

Thursday, March 27, the night before the Black Mass, Christians plan to pray and worship on the south steps of the Capitol at 6 p.m. Satanists said they're still planning to make their way in the statehouse and recite prayers on the 28th.
While both sides say they're planning to protest peacefully, Huelskamp told 27 News his group is worried their own personal safety at the protest.
"We've called upon the Capitol Police, the KBI and the [Kansas] Highway Patrol to be in full alert of violence that may be perpetrated by this satanic group," Huelskamp said.
Right now, the KBI and the Kansas Highway Patrol are expected to be on high alert. 27 News is told there could be a large police presence just in case anything gets out of hand later this week.
