Isolated thunderstorms and spotty sprinkles will pop up across New Mexico Thursday. Drier and breezier weather returns starting Friday. Yet another warm day all across New Mexico Wednesday with high temperatures even warmer than what we've seen the last couple of days for some across the state. A few spotty showers popped up this afternoon, especially over the northern mountains, in eastern New Mexico and down over Otero County where there have even been a few thunderstorms. Another round of showers and thunderstorms return Thursday afternoon, especially east of I-25. A lot of the rain will evaporate before reaching the ground though, with the best chance for accumulating rain in southeast New Mexico. Temperatures will stay well above average again. Rain will end Thursday night. Drier air moves back into all of New Mexico Friday, but so does a breezy westerly wind. Wind gusts could be as high as 45 mph bringing back an elevated fire danger to areas along and east of I-25. A cold front sweeps across the state Friday evening bringing cooler weather for the weekend. High temperatures will only be back down closer to average again for this time of year. Winds will continue through the weekend, especially Saturday, when widespread wind gusts over 35 to 40 mph are likely. Lighter winds will develop Sunday afternoon. Breezy afternoon winds with seasonable temperatures will continue early next week.
