MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) -- Officials in Mount Pleasant saw a first look at the design for the new Roper facility, which is proposed to be built at the site of the previous Miller Cadillac on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard.
Mount Pleasant's Design Review Board surveyed the site, landscape and archite
cture of the roper facility.
Roper Saint Francis intends for the facility to be a three-story medical office facility at 512 Johnnie Dodds Boulevard.
"This is an area of mount pleasant we currently have a lot of primary care, but we don't have as much specialty care and advanced imaging that we would like to have in south mount pleasant," said Charles Fletcher, the VP of Construction, Real estate & Support services for Roper St. Francis Healthcare.
Roper officials plan to have a multi-specialty clinic, emergency room, advanced imaging and 68 thousand square feet of clinical space. They said Wednesday's meeting is the first step of what officials anticipate will be a years-long process.
"We got conceptual approval of the plan late last year and then another 6 to 8 months of design and then 2 years of construction so hopefully by the end of 2027," said Fletcher.
Board members gave roper representatives guidance on the design of the roof. They wanted to ensure that the roof does not appear flat.
They also recommended changing the trees in the landscape to match the rest of mount pleasant and staying in the city ordinance.
Following Wednesday's review, the design will now go to a second round of the town's design review board for a vote, before going to Mount Pleasant Town Council for final approval. ...read more read less
